March as National Nutrition Month (NNM) a yearly campaign created by the American Dietetic Association (ADA). This year’s theme is Eat Right with Color. In my private practice as I speak to clients the number one response I receive when I ask if they eat fruits and veggies on a daily basis is “no”! Some don’t even eat veggies on a weekly basis. There are many reasons to eat fruits and veggies, see my article ““What Color is Your Plate”” for more in-depth info.
My challenge to people who do not eat fruits and veggies – just give them a try. When my sons were young we had field trips to the produce department at the grocery store. Their task was to pick a fruit or veggie they haven’t tried before, we would research the item for nutritional info, and how to eat/cook the item. Some we liked, some we didn’t, which was OK. The key is, my kids were not afraid to try different and new items, and they expanded their fruit and veggie repertoire. Why don’t you give it a try? Let me know how it goes.
