Superfood or Just Super Marketing Hype?

As a dietitian I find it frustrating to hear people buy into “celebrity” hype of “superfoods”. Our own locally grown fruits and vegetables are great choices for a healthy diet.  I personally do not need my fruit pulverized and dried into a powder so I can sprinkle it on my cereal or toss into a smoothie.  Also, if you are environmentally consciousness – do you really want your “superfood” to travel thousands of miles just to get to you?

I have to share this video which does a good job showing the difference between “marketing hype” and actual “science”.  I find it a MUST VIEW.

Next time you are wondering if these foods are necessary why not just “ask the dietitian”?
